I was glad to tab into this area and have something to plan in the future. Perhaps several plans. There are lots of amazing mountains in this area that deserve to be explored.
There is a long logging road and we were stopped early by a recent rock slide. It is unpassable for most 4x4 unless if you are into extreme 4x4 driving where you can drive diagonally or do few rock-hopping with your car. In the meantime till this road is repaired, a bike will do the job well.
We got into the Brian Waddington Hut after 3.5 hours. Absolutely a nice hut and there are many goodies in it (I leave that to you to explore). It was very tempting to spend the night especially we had it all for ourselves. The lake was still frozen and we crossed it from end to end but conditions may change soon.
On the way back, my friends saw prints which they thought was a grizzly bear. I was behind them and somehow missed the track. But there are many signs of bears where we parked.
No mosquito. The trail is very well marked after the logging road. There is a sketchy bridge with one log but not too hard to cross. Snow line was 1120m.
