This is my failed climb. It's a day hike, but a bit too much for my knees. They ached for 3 days after :(
We took Phelps Creek trail, up to Leroy Basin, and then continued on to 7FJ. I downloaded Gaia Map, which is just a straight line for the climb at the top 300': totally useless. Need to skirt to the west for gentler slope.
The beginning of the climb and how to get there is good on the map, and easily negotiable, even though sometimes you don't see any track.
Too many fingers, and I wasted some time attempting a wrong finger, and it was tricky to back down, and try again. I only reached the ridge, so I could see the other side. We had a large group, and I had to turn around, because they were waiting for me down below. Only one in my group made to the summit.
Larch: perfect time.
Trail condition: good. All the way to the climbing junction is clear. Hiking up Leroy Basin is pretty steep.
Climbing condition: light snow on some rocks. Not the safest. Lower scramble is good, upper part is confusing. Couldn't really figure out which way to go, especially when cloud moved in and snow started to fall.
