This is a classic Olympic National Park route for both backpacking and day hiking. We also got some classic Olympic NP weather, with a stormy, soggy West coast day. We had our overnight gear and had planned on camping at Chilean Memorial, but missed the high tide cutoff about 1 km or so before Chilean. We would have had to wait a few hours in that spot before we could continue onwards, so decided to turn it into a day-hike. I think it turned out for the best, as it started pouring by the time we got back to the trail head and we were able to fit some more activities into our trip. There's some great beaches along this trail, especially at Rialto Beach, and lots of good camping spots with good access to fresh water. Hole-In-The-Wall rock was a pretty neat feature, and the overland trail above it actually offered pretty nice views both North and South.
