Did the loop today. This hike is in 103 hikes book. I started from the gully between second and third pump of Seymour. It goes down and up again behind Seymour than down again below runner peak and up to the pass between runner and Elsay. Another 200 meters up to the peak. I saw thick clouds coming from Seymour so had to make it to the summit quick to see the view before it was gone and good thing i did because i spent one hour at the peak and it was cloudy the whole time. Got to see 10 minutes of the views at least. Heading back down to the pass i was tired already, so i had to make a choice, head back the way i came which is lots of slippery roots and no views, or go down the huge boulder field down to join Elsay lake trail. Having done Elsay lake in the past I knew the uphill back up Seymour is a tough one but couldnt pass on the boulder experience and the views. Although it felt like dislodging the wrong stone could be a bad thing, i still enjoyed it. Felt like Hanes valley backwards.
Total ascending was about 1000 meters, so the 500 mentioned in the book and here is not correct. Nice hike if you like a challenge but be prepared its not maintained and only flagging to follow.
