The trail starts right across from the viewpoint North of Lions Bay. Dry, steep and somewhat dusty, but quite wide and well-developed. No mosquitoes, but two people got stung by wasps close to the beginning of the trail :(.
A very pleasant hike otherwise, largely to the fact that we didn't meet a single soul except for one grouse. A large rocky bluff was great for enjoying superb views of Howe Sound. Trail marking is surprisingly good, complete with maps/signs at all intersections, and the trail can serve as an alternative start to Hat or Brunswick mountains.
