This is an overnight trip.
Saturday: Killen Creek TH (4600') to Glacier Lake (7500'), about 5 miles.
Sunday: climb via north ridge till summit, and back, camp out. Elevation gain ~5000', loss ~8000'.
Current condition: lots of mosquitoes at and near trailhead. No mosquito above High Camp.
Snow starts below Killen Creek Meadow, needs GPS to navigate.
Climbing: rocks and snow alternate. May be tricky at times. Some loose rock. Lots of exposure. Need to be careful. We changed into crampons 4 times on the way up. On the way down, we took of crampons and onto crampons twice.
Total climbers we saw: 2 of us, another group of 2, and a larger group from Mazamas (7-8?) maybe 4~5 made to the summit.
A fun route. Saw some goat/sheep.
Climbing permit $15 for the weekend ($10 for weekdays).
