DIRECTIONS: FS65 to Thomas Lake TH. Gravel, not too bad. There's one bump, need to negotiate slowly. High clearance helps.create
SUMMARY: From the trailhead, you can just walk to Thomas Lake, which is very short.
Or you can walk to Blue Lake, maybe in 2 miles.
Or you can walk to PCT at Junction Lake via Rock Lake, maybe in 2 miles.
Many possibilities, and camping options. See official website with a simple trail map: http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/giffordpinchot/recarea/?recid=79410create

Indian Heaven From Thomas Lake

Oct 23, 2016
Indian Heaven: from Thomas Lake to Lemei Rock and back. We didn't scale or even attempt to scale Lemei Rock. Already plenty of snow on the hills.
Thomas Lake is maybe only 10 minutes from the trailhead. After that, the trail goes up for a mile or so, before levels out again. We took a cutoff trail via Rock Lake to Junction Lake instead of going to Blue Lake. There, we took PCT north, then #33 NE, then #34 east to Lemei Rock. Came back on #179 to Junction Lake. Out to Thomas Lake via the same cutoff (not marked). For trail map, see this USFS website.
Not sure about total elevation gain. 1500' to 2000'.
Current condition: wet. Meadow is still pretty with yellow grass. But huckleberry leaves are mostly gone. So, no red. Still plenty berries left. However, they were diluted by the rain.
