We camped at Little Yosemite Valley camp. So the hike to Half Dome is only 7 miles RT. Easy. The trail itself is easy to follow (somewhat boring), over engineering. The only fun part is the cable. Yes, it's down, and it's steep. But the cable is still fixed on the rock. Bring grippy gloves. I saw some hikers with harness, helmet. I didn't bring anything. The rock is grippy. As long as it's dry, you'd be fine.
It was a Friday when we went. Only one other guy when we climbed. Later a couple of more people.
No snow to be worried about. Only at flat parts. I brought micro-spikes, but didn't use them.
