South Sister Climb

3 of us hiked to the summit of South Sister for the sunset. Great view and color. Almost perfect condition. Not too cold, nor too windy. I did put on a down jacket at the top.
We started ~2:15pm, and the sun set ~7pm. Back at car ~10:30pm. Not a race. Yes, we were the only people up at the top this late, but encountered many along the way. 1 day shy of the full moon. It was surprising that we couldn't see each other very far in the bright moon, unless when I was wearing my white jacket. Needed headlamp on the rocky slope and in the woods. Twice we had to pause briefly to look for the trail. The flat area is a bliss to walk in the moonlight.
Saw a rescue mission just below the saddle at Lewis Glacier.
2 of us camped on the way back. 1 went home to Bend. I got dropped off at work ~10am Monday.
Saturday it was raining. Otherwise, this would be a more relaxing weekend.
Trail condition: dusty scree. No snow. Road is all paved, except the short stretch to the official TH parking lot.
