The Mamquam River Forest Service Road (FSR) leaves Highway 99 about 1 km south of Squamish at the Apron parking lot (Stawamus Chief Provincial Park). Follow for 13.2 KM then turn left on to the Skookum Dam Road. Continue 6.6 KM to near end of road at the Dam and parking area at a locked yellow gate. AWD or 4x4 highly recommended for this last 6.6 KM
There is an outhouse at the Parking Lot.create
SUMMARY: The hiking trail to the turquoise coloured Watersprite Lake offers some incredible views of the area around the Mamquam River, including mountain peaks in the southern region of Garibaldi Provincial Park, Martin Peak, Dreadnought Peak, and extensive views of the Watersprite Creek Valley. The scenic trail begins east of Squamish, about 20km up the Mamquam and Skookum Forestry Service Roads and follows old logging roads overlooking the valley before a final ascent up a boulder field to the lake.
From the parking lot area, pass the metal gate and follow the old gravel road that veers off to the right, heading up a gradual hill. A Trail Kiosk with maps and information is at the top of this hill. The trail continues through an open gravel section, passing the Skookum Dam below to your left, before narrowing and joining an old logging road. create

As many reviews indicate, you need a 4 x 4 vehicle or one with high clearance to reach the trailhead. I found the road rougher this time then when I did this trail in 2020. Great views before you reach the lake. The lake itself is a beautiful colour. Lots of flies and there were plenty of hikers. We encountered three groups of hikers blaring their music - on the way up to the lake, at the lake and on the way back to the parking lot π There is a reason people go hiking and itβs not because they want to listen to music.
