We wanted to get a small hike in on the drive back from a concert by Seattle, so decided on this one as we wanted to check out Deception Pass park since hearing about it from a friend. We caught the ferry to the south end of Whidbey Island earlier in the morning and drove up the island stopping at a few of the little beach towns, would definitely recommend if you're looking for a low stress place to check out.
The trail is not very difficult, a small steeper section to get to the peak but quite a bit of trail walking along the Northwest perimeter of the island with views of Puget sound. The peak gives great views of Whidbey Island, the Olympic Peninsula, and the San Juan Islands. Good place for a family trip, well-maintained park, lots of campsites available.
