Very much a bushwacking trip, we attempted to follow the old rail line that used to run from the munitions factory to the loading wharf.
Starting where the boardwalk trail leaves the the old rail right of way, we followed the old rail bed as it pushed on through the bush. The first section of the right of way is fairly clear but quickly becomes overgrown as it nears the first creek crossing. The route becomes very swampy as well, and required following a very careful path to avoid a boot full of mud. Many brambles and game trails later, we finally pushed through to the point where the rail line meets one of the other trails running through the park. An interesting little adventure.
