Fantastic venture today! High clearance vehicle required to get to this destination. I started out accross Callaghan lake in my kayak. Took about 25 mins to cross including pic breaks. The water was beautiful. You can see Tusk upon your return. I docked just to the right of the falls. The trail is well marked and there are lots of opportunity for refilling your water bottle along the way. No bugs today! The trail starts off weaving through the trees and becomes very steep not too far in. There is a rope in one section to assist you as the ground has little traction. Mostly dust. The forest is beautiful! Full of sweet smells and wild blueberries to munch on along the way. The boulder field is very aggressive. There is a trail along the left side however its like a slip and slide! And very steep! This maybe one of the most dangerous treks I've done. I dont mean challenging I mean dangerous. Please make sure you know your skill level and wear proper foot wear. The middle of the boulder field I believe is your best bet. More grip and more to hold. Becareful of lose rock. Some are extremely large and if they fall they will crush your ankle. Or worse. Im estimating the 322 elevation gain took place in approximately 2 kms. The trek including the kayaking is about 7.5 kms. Once at the top you weave through more trail with little tree cover. Lots of view opportunities. Once you see that first glimpse of Cirque...its magic! I felt so privileged!. The sky was blue. Still no bugs. The water was cold and all you heard were the sweet sounds of picas and birds. I loved this trek!
