Appalachian Trail (lehigh River Bridge To Windsor Furnace Shelter)
Apr 20, 2011
A three day mid week spring trip, Day one, rocks. Day two, more rocks, sharp rocks. Day three, still plenty of rocks, still plenty sharp. This section of the of the AT is as notorious for its gear wrecking, body wracking rocks, as it is for some of the best vistas in PA, though the latter often take some off-trail effort to enjoy. Highlights of the hike included the views at Bake Oven Knob, and the Pinnacle where we enjoyed the migrating hawk population. Also met the first 2011 trekker attempting to join the 2000 mile club. At the 1100 mile mark and effortlessly running up hill with a full pack, I would give the guy a good chance at accomplishing his goal.
Overall, a great hike.
