Even a meager 4X4 with a bit of clearance could drive ALL the way to the peak (and communications station),... if there was no snow. It was almost doable when I was there but my car actually had to stop at the cabin referred to in most guides due to just one steep rocky bit and the fat I have a normal car (beyond that was probably doable by say a Rav 4).
We met a herd of cows on the way up.
The wildflowers were out, but there was no cover from sun the whole way along so I was happy it was unseasonably cool.
It was a bit buggy, but the views were ok. The cabin at the top was gross.
This was my 80th or 81st hike in my goal to complete "103 hikes" 5th edition.
