We did most of the trail but once the lake became visible, we went off trail and descended to the lake and eventually decided not to go further. We were satisfied where we were and didn't think continuing further will offer any better views. Mount Macfarlane was the gem of the all views.
The trail was well marked generally. The trailhead is blocked by a big log which gave me the impression that the road with a gate on the other side was the correct trailhead. The road will intersect the trail after about 100m of elevation but the actual trail is a nicer option.
There was still snow. It started at 1250m. There was a short traverse on steep slope which was still covered by snow. It added some difficulty. The bridge that crosses the creek was merely two broken logs which was not easy too.
